So Revise and resubmit is (in very crude terms) ranked between Accept, major revisions and Reject on a scale of favourability. The editor is not rejecting your paper, but they are not committing to accepting it yet either they want to re-review the revised version, before making a final decision.

Reviewer Comments to Author(s): Reviewer #1 (Jillon Vander Wal, PhD): Overall, this is a clear, concise, and well-written manuscript. The introduction is relevant and theory based. Sufficient information about the previous study findings is presented for readers to follow the present study rationale and procedures.

An accept with revision decision indicates a commitment by the journal to publish the manuscript if the requested revisions are addressed sufficiently. A revise and resubmit decision is rendered when the editor is interested in the manuscript but cannot commit to publishing it until revisions are made.

DoJustify your recommendation with concrete evidence and specific examples.Be specific so the authors know what they need to do to improve.Be thorough. This might be the only time you read the manuscript.Be professional and respectful.Remember to say what you liked about the manuscript!Feb 6, 2020
