Many would call it the most important part of STIR/SHAKEN. In the STIR/SHAKEN process, attestation occurs when the originating telephone service provider verifies the call's source and call number to attest the incoming number's authenticity.

The SafetyNet Attestation API provides a cryptographically-signed attestation, assessing the device's integrity. In order to create the attestation, the API examines the device's software and hardware environment, looking for integrity issues, and comparing it with the reference data for approved Android devices.

If the device supports hardware-level key attestation, the root certificate within this chain is signed using an attestation root key, which the device manufacturer injects into the device's hardware-backed keystore at the factory.

This attestation provides assurance that the properties of the device (for example, the serial number) are legitimate (as attested to by the device's Secure Enclave and verified by Apple's servers) and not spoofed.

Write the statement ?True copy of the original? on the front side, lower right or left corner of the photocopy. Sign below the statement. If multiple pages are attached, repeat the same procedure for each. Submit the self-attested photocopies with the application.
