When it comes to the weight of the paper you want to use for the brochure there are two main types: Paper Stock & Card Stock. Each has their own unique style & benefit. This is your average computer paper with a thickness of 20-28 lbs. This paper is thicker than average writing paper but thinner then paperboard.

Matt paper is the opposite to gloss it is coated with a matt finish to produce a paper that isn't shiny, preventing glare. This type of paper is perfect for reports, flyers and leaflets.

Card or Cover Stock: best for presentations. This is the fancy paper used in most brochures, pamphlet covers and the like. It's also a nice choice for presentations.

We recommend that catalogs be printed on a coated 100# text weight paper for best results. Catalogs can either be self-cover, where the text and cover are both printed on text weight paper, or they can be plus-cover, where the cover is printed on a heavier cover weight paper.

Book paper is commonly used to print books, booklets, catalogs, magazine publications, and posters. Cover paper (60 to 120 pounds): Commonly referred to as cardstock, cover paper is thick and stiff (although as you can see by the pound range, this thickness can vary substantially).

Silk Paper This paper is used most commonly in magazine pages, but it's also popular for leaflets and brochures for high-quality products. Using silk paper will give your brochure or leaflet a more elegant, sophisticated look, which will in turn make your business seem more high-end and classy.

Therefore, brochure paper should be thin enough to be easily folded, but thick enough to feel substantial, and have enough opacity to not allow show-through. We recommend that brochures be printed on a gloss coated 100# text weight paper for best results.
