Resolved is intended to be used when someone thinks an issue is Done, but someone should review it to make sure it's really Done. In the Jira Default Workflow the Closed status is also configured to prevent future edits to issues in the Closed status.

An issue's status indicates its current place in the project's workflow. Resolutions are the ways in which an issue can be closed, or completed, or resolved, in many ways. An issue resolution is usually set when the status is changed. There is some good documentation about the status and resolution fields.

Some best practices to prevent your issues from having a mistakenly set resolution, or/and the appropriate one are: Create a post function on the transition that leads to the "Done" status to set the resolution as something fixed: By doing to you are setting an appropriate and acceptable resolution.

Resolution Set Using a POST Function Locate your Workflow: > Issues > Workflows. Click Edit under Actions for your workflow. Select your "Done" transition, and Click POST Functions. Click 'Add POST Function > Select 'Update Issue Field' Select Resolution for Issue Field and the appropriate Field Value.

"Won't Do" is a resolution indicating we are done with an issue because we've decided not to do it.

As a Jira administrator, you can manage or customize default issue statuses, resolutions, and priorities. Statuses represent the position of an issue in its workflow. A status can be mapped to one workflow step. Resolutions are the ways in which an issue can be closed.

To associate a resolution with a status: Go to the relevant workflow. Click 'Edit' Click the transition to the status you would like to add a resolution to.
