Attach Footer Title For Free

You can now type your header to appear on the first page. REMINDER: If you have multiple Sections in a document and a Section's header/footer is set for link to previous, that will continue not only the main header but any different first page and even/odd page headers footers. This is true even if you do not see them.

Link to previousGo to Layout > Breaks > Next Page and insert a break wherever you want to switch to different header or footer information.In the first header of each new section, deselect Link to Previous.Format each section the way you'd like.Select Close Header and Footer, or press Esc to exit.

Add chapter title to header or footer in Word document(1.) Select Links and References from the Categories drop down list;(2.) In the Field names list box, please choose StyleRef option;(3.) And then, find and select Heading 1 which is your chapter style you created from the Style name list box.

Edit your existing headers and footersDouble-click the header or footer you want to edit, or select Header or Footer, and then select Edit Header or Edit Footer.Add or change text for the header or footer or do any of the following:When you're done, select Close Header and Footer or press Esc.

Double-click the header or the footer area (near the top or bottom of the page). Go to Header & Footer > Field. In the Field names list, Select Page, and then select OK. To change the numbering format, go to Header & Footer > Page Number > Format Page Numbers.

From the "Text" group, click Quick Parts > Select "Field..." Under "Field names," select "FileName." In the "Field properties" section, select a format. In the "Field options" section, check "Add path to filename." The file name will now appear in the header or footer.
