Sections are your main topics, while pages may go into more detail on those topics. Think of your module like a binder. Sections are the tabs, while pages are the pieces of paper behind the tabs with all the information on them.

A page break is a marker in an electronic document that tells the document interpreter that the content which follows is part of a new page. A page break causes a form feed to be sent to the printer during spooling of the document to the printer.

A page break simply pushes any information after that page break onto the next page; a section break essentially splits your document into different parts to allow you to apply complex formatting to your document. A section break should not be used instead of a page break in your document.

Section breaks enable you to split a document into several sections, enabling you to apply different formatting and layouts to each section. For instance, having two sections in a document enables one section to have portrait orientation and the other to have landscape orientation.

Add a section break Select where you want a new section to begin. Go to Layout > Breaks. Choose the type of section break you want: Next Page Section break starts the new section on the following page. Continuous Section break starts the new section on the same page.

Use page breaks to control where a page ends and where a new page begins. Insert a page break. Place the cursor where you want to start a new page.

Choose a break type. ?To start on a new page, click Page break. To start a new section on the same page, click Section break (continuous).
