Form 943. A form an agricultural employer files with the IRS each year to report income and FICA taxes it withholds from its employees. The form lists federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare withholdings paid during the course of the year.

In certain situations, agricultural employers are liable for FUTA tax. Employers who employ agricultural labor are subject to FUTA if they: Paid cash wages of $20,000 or more in any calendar quarter during the current or preceding calendar year to persons employed in agricultural labor, or.

Generally, employers are required to file Forms 941 quarterly. However, some small employers (those whose annual liability for social security, Medicare, and withheld federal income taxes is $1,000 or less for the year) may file Form 944, Employer's ANNUAL Federal Tax Return annually instead of Forms 941.

Generally, any person or business that pays wages to an employee must file a Form 941 each quarter, and must continue to do so even if there are no employees during some of the quarters.

Form 941, however, is filed quarterly. Schedule H must only be filed for years where payroll was processed for employees of a household employer. Contrarily, Form 941 must be filed each quarter, regardless if payroll was processed during that time period.

Employers of farm employees don't file Form 941 for wages paid for agricultural labor. See Form 943 and Pub. 51 for more information.
