Effective July 1, 2022, hog wire and barbed wire fencing used in agricultural production on lands classified as agricultural lands under section (s.) 193.461, Florida Statutes (F.S.), are exempt from Florida sales tax. Under this statute, farm properties that are used for bona fide agricultural activities are to be taxed based on the current “use” value of the property–$500 per acre—versus its development value, which is typically much higher.
