Form 1040A is used by U.S. taxpayers to file an annual income tax return. For Tax year 2018, you will no longer use Form 1040-A, but instead use the redesigned Form 1040.

The 11a area is where you enter all tax, except any amount from Schedule 2. In the column for line 11 is where you enter all your tax. Review the Form 1040 instructions for this line.

Box 2 reports the total amount your employer withheld from your paychecks for federal income taxes. This number is reported on Line 62 of Form 1040, on Line 36 of Form 1040A, or on Line 7 of Form 1040EZ.

The IRA deduction is to be filled in on Line 32 (see the 1040 Instructions 2018 Booklet, page 29, for details). On Line 33, you can ask for a deduction on your student loan and Line 34 is reserved for tuition and fees deductions (if you include Form 8917).
