JB-CSSD Family Services (Civil and Criminal) assists courts and clients to resolve family and interpersonal conflict. Family Civil Court services assist the Court and clients to resolve family and interpersonal conflicts with negotiation, mediation, and evaluation and education services.

You will have to go to the court hearing. Child Support Call Center at 1-800-228-KIDS (5437). The Judicial Branch follows the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). If you need a reasonable accommodation under the ADA, contact a court clerk or an ADA contact person listed at .jud.ct.gov/ADA.

If you're a paying parent, you cannot simply stop paying or reduce child support. You can, however, apply for a Post Judgment modification. Generally speaking, if your child lives in Connecticut, you can request that a Connecticut court change the order.

In most (but not all) cases, you must file the appeal within 20 days of the date notice of the judgment or decision is issued by the trial judge or clerk. If notice of the judgment or decision is given orally by the trial judge in open court, the 20 day appeal period begins on that day.

You can file most family case types electronically (on-line), including dissolution of marriage (divorce); legal separation; annulment; and civil union - dissolution, legal separation or annulment, custody application, and visitation petition.
