Limits and continuity are fundamental concepts in calculus. Limits refer to the behaviour of a function as its independent variable approaches a specific value. Continuity, on the other hand, focuses on the smoothness and connectedness of a function.

Applications of Limits and Continuity: If you drop an ice cube in a glass of warm water and measure the temperature with time, the temperature eventually approaches the room temperature where the glass is stored. Measuring the temperature is a limit again as time approaches infinity.

First, a function f with variable x is continuous at the point “a” on the real line, if the limit of f(x), when x approaches the point “a”, is equal to the value of f(x) at “a”, i.e., f(a). Second, the function (as a whole) is continuous, if it is continuous at every point in its domain.

Limits formula:- Let y = f(x) as a function of x. If at a point x = a, f(x) takes indeterminate form, then we can consider the values of the function which is very near to a. If these values tend to some definite unique number as x tends to a, then that obtained unique number is called the limit of f(x) at x = a.

In this video, we learn about limits, a fundamental concept in calculus. Limits help us understand what a function approaches as the input gets closer to a certain value, even when the function is undefined at that point.

There are three conditions of continuity. The first condition is that the value of f(x) exists at the given x-value. The second condition is that the limit exists at the given x-value. The last condition is that the value of f(x) and the limit are equal.
