Magnetic Force can be defined as the attractive or repulsive force that is exerted between the poles of a magnet and electrically charged moving particles. Hence, it is a consequence of the electromagnetic forces.

Magnetism either attracts magnetic objects or pushes them away. If the same poles of two magnets are placed near each other they push away and repel. If two different poles are placed near each other they attract and pull together. Magnets only attract certain types of metals including iron, steel, nickel, and cobalt.

What is magnetism? Magnetism is the force that pulls (attracts) or pushes (repels) an object which contains metal towards, or away from, a magnet. A magnet has an area around it over which it can exert a force on objects. The further away the object is from the magnet, the weaker the force.

The operation of electric motors is governed by various laws of electricity and magnetism, including Faraday's law of induction, Ampère's circuital law, Lenz' law, and the Lorentz force. The first two – Faraday's law and Ampère's circuital law – are included in Maxwell's equations.

Magnetism is an invisible force or field caused by the unique properties of certain materials. In magnets the molecules are uniquely arranged so that their electrons spin in the same direction. This arrangement of atoms creates two poles in a magnet, a North-seeking pole and a South-seeking pole.

There are basically three types of magnets: permanent magnet, temporary magnet and electromagnet.

Magnetism is the force exerted by magnets when they attract or repel each other. Magnetism is caused by the motion of electric charges. Every substance is made up of tiny units called atoms. Each atom has electrons, particles that carry electric charges.

These are for (1) long, straight wires, (2) free moving charges in magnetic fields, and (3) the solenoid rule – which are loops of current. Calling these "rules" is the right name. They are not laws of nature, but conventions of humankind.
