​ What property tax credits are available in Wisconsin? A property owner may qualify for several different types of credits: Wisconsin has credits that are applied directly to a property tax bill if the property or owner qualifies and/or applies for the credit (see question 2)

A rent certificate or property tax bill is used to verify the amount of rent paid or property tax accrued you are claiming for purposes of homestead credit. If a copy of the property tax bill is not available, you may use a printout from the county or municipal treasurer or their website.

The Homestead Property Tax Credit helps qualified Michigan homeowners and renters pay for a portion of their property taxes. For the 2023 tax season, this credit is worth up to $1,600. For homeowners, your taxable value must be $143,000 or less.

Schedule H-EZ is the Wisconsin Department of Revenue form that must be filled out by individuals wanting to apply for the homestead credit. Homestead credit allows renters and homeowners to be granted with a tax benefit which will decrease the impact of rent and property taxes.

In the letter, include the following information on a business letterhead: Your tenant's name. Rental property address. Rent price. The purpose of the letter. Confirmation that your tenant has paid rent on time. Your contact information.

You may be able to claim homestead credit if: You occupied and owned or rented a home, apartment, or other dwelling that is subject to Wisconsin property taxes during 2022. You are a legal resident of Wisconsin for all of 2022. You are 18 years of age or older on December 31, 2022.

You own or rent your Wisconsin homestead that is subject to Wisconsin property taxes during 2022. (Persons who reside in mobile or manufactured homes or nursing homes that are subject to property taxes may also qualify to file a claim.
