Most adults can get CalWORKs for 60 months. Even if you have "timed out" as an adult, your children can still receive payments. Months when the adult is exempt do not count toward the 60-month time limit. (See "What are Welfare to Work Activities and Rules").

(a) “Financial abuse” of an elder or dependent adult occurs when a person or entity does any of the following: (1) Takes, secretes, appropriates, obtains, or retains real or personal property of an elder or dependent adult for a wrongful use or with intent to defraud, or both.

(a) (1) Except as provided in Section 828, a case file may be inspected only by the following: (A) Court personnel. (B) The district attorney, a city attorney, or city prosecutor authorized to prosecute criminal or juvenile cases under state law.

To that end, when CPS identifies potential signs of child abuse or neglect in the home, California law provides CPS with the option of offering the parents a voluntary supervision agreement pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code 301 (WIC), otherwise known as a "301 contract."
