Under the Environmental Quality Act of 1986, the Arizona State Legislature created ADEQ in 1987 as the state's cabinet-level environmental agency. ADEQ is composed of three environmental programs: Air Quality, Water Quality and Waste, with functional units responsible for technical, operational and policy support.

The mission of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality is to protect and enhance public health and the environment in Arizona. To achieve this, we administer the state's environmental laws and delegated federal programs to prevent air, water and land pollution and ensure cleanup.

The Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) is responsible for the regulation and the management of Arizona's water. The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), meanwhile, monitors, reports, and protects Arizona's groundwater quality.

The Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) within the Executive Office of the President coordinates the federal government's efforts to improve, preserve, and protect America's public health and environment.

Outdated management and infrastructure leave too many of our neighbors without clean, safe, and reliable water. Wildfires, extreme heat, and drought are wreaking havoc on our forests, parks, rivers, and lakes.

ADEQ is responsible for administering state environmental laws and shares regulatory responsibility for certain federal programs delegated to the state from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

This permit requires ADOT to implement and maintain stormwater and non-stormwater control measures that minimize the discharge of pollutants from the MS4 system to the MEP. The permit also contains discharge limitations and SWMP requirements to minimize the discharge of pollutants to receiving waters.

ADEQ is responsible for administering state environmental laws and shares regulatory responsibility for certain federal programs delegated to the state from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
