What army regulation covers key control?

Commanders and Directors will establish administrative key and lock control programs IAW AR 190-51, Appendix D and this regulation. a. Administrative keys, combinations and locks are those used to protect DoD or Government property other than arms, ammunition, and explosives (AA&E).

Qualified engineer personnel will verify the structure composition of AA&E storage facilities (for example, walls, ceilings, roofs, floors, and doors). Statements will be prepared on DA Form 4604–R (Security Construction Statement).

Padlocks and their keys will be inventoried by serial number semiannually.

(1) When arms and ammunition are stored in the same areas, keys to those storage areas shall be maintained together, but separately from other keys that do not pertain to AA&E storage. (2) The number of keys shall be held to the minimum essential. Keys shall not be left unattended or unsecured at any time.

This regulation establishes policies and procedures for the possession, use, security, and transportation of privately owned firearms and other privately owned weapons on Fort Leonard Wood.

Inventories/Key Control Register These inventories are to be forwarded to the Physical Security Office and will be held on file for 90 days. Key Control Registers shall be maintained by Key Custodians to ensure accountability of keys.
