A CSS Profile Waiver Request for the Noncustodial Parent is available to provide to colleges. Each college will look at your waiver request and determine if they will waive the requirement for your noncustodial parent to submit a CSS Profile application.

TO SUBMIT: Please submit your completed form, statements, and supporting documentation using the contact information below based on the campus to which you are applying. Email (ncpwaiver@nyu.edu) or fax (212-995-4661) are preferred if possible.

Some colleges require students to use the CSS Profile to apply for nonfederal aid. The CSS Profile application asks for details about your financial situation that may increase the aid your child gets. If your child doesn't submit the CSS Profile, they're forfeiting access to billions of dollars in aid.

Since failure to complete the non-custodial parent's part of an aid application may result in the student losing institutional financial aid dollars, colleges that require non-custodial parent information typically have a process by which the student can request that the requirement be waived.

Both parents, including those in a noncustodial role, need to fill out the CSS Profile, submit their federal tax returns, and W-2 forms. This information should also be submitted through the College Board's secure IDOC platform.

The student will need to log in first in order for a parent to assist them in completing their application. If the student's parents are divorced/separated, the noncustodial parent will create an account to complete a second CSS Profile.

Under certain circumstances, NYU will consider waiving the CSS Profile for the noncustodial parent if the information cannot be obtained. In such cases, applicants may submit a CSS Profile Waiver Request for the Noncustodial Parent form along with supporting documentation.

The non-custodial parent fills out their financial information privately. Submitting the CSS without that information will just cause problems for you, delay aid and potentially even cost you financial aid since many scholarships could be gone. Do what you can to get the information you need and get it out ASAP.
