This guide provides a clear and supportive approach to filling out the Slide 1 form intended for external surveyors. By following the steps outlined below, users can ensure that they accurately complete the form and submit it correctly online.
Follow the steps to successfully fill out the form and submit it online.
- Click the ‘Get Form’ button to access the form and open it for editing.
- Fill in the required fields, including the purchase price of the property, ensuring that the amount is fully paid. This is essential for your patent request to be processed.
- Prepare a written request addressed to the Texas General Land Office. This request should be submitted by the owner or their authorized agent or representative, clearly stating the intention for patent issuance.
- Gather proof of ownership documentation, such as a deed, judgment, or affidavit of heirship. Attach this evidence along with a $25.00 filing fee for each document submitted.
- If necessary, obtain Field Notes prepared by a Licensed State Land Surveyor or the County Surveyor. These notes must describe the land for which the patent is sought and must be accompanied by the required $25.00 filing fee, a plat, and a report.
- Make sure that any Field Notes are properly recorded in the County Surveyor's Records prior to submission to the Texas General Land Office. Forward the stamped original documents along with your form.
- Ensure that the patent is issued in the correct name. If you are applying as the current owner, include a certified copy of each conveyance from the original grantee to the current owner along with the $25.00 statutory filing fee for each deed, or provide a title opinion that reflects the chain of title and includes the name and address of the current owner.
- Prepare to include the $100.00 patent fee and the $11.00 certified mail postage fee, which covers delivery from the General Land Office to the county and back to the applicant.
- Submit a separate remittance for the $25.00 patent recording fee. Verify that all fees are accurately calculated and included with your submission.
- Review all filled sections for accuracy. Save changes, download, print, or share the completed form as needed before final submission.
