The goal of these hunter education efforts is to teach students to be safe, responsible, conservation-minded hunters. Most states require completion of a hunter education course prior to purchasing a hunting license.

The Texas Education Agency will improve outcomes for all public school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems.

The ONLINE-ONLY course option is for Texas hunters age 17 and older wanting to gain hunter education certification to legally hunt in Texas. Upon successful payment and completion, hunters 17 years of age and older are eligible to print a temporary Hunter Education Certificate from the Online Provider.

About the Texas Driving Safety Course Our online driving safety course makes it easy to fulfill defensive driving requirements for ticket dismissal and become a safer driver. The course is completely online and has no final exam. The online format allows you to finish the course at a time and pace convenient to you.

Youth Hunting License Valid for any person, resident or non-resident, under 17 years of age at the date of license purchase. Exempt from state hunting endorsement requirements, except for Reptile and Amphibian Endorsement. State endorsement exemptions remain valid for the entire license year.

Who needs to take Hunter Education? Every hunter in Texas (including out-of-state hunters) born on or after Sept. 2, 1971, must successfully complete hunter education. Minimum age for certification is 9 years and cost is $15.
