How to Cite a Dissertation in APA Style | Format & Examples APA formatAuthor last name, Initials. (Year). Dissertation title (Publication No. Number) [Type of dissertation/thesis, University Name]. Database Name. APA in-text citation (Ford, 2015)1 more row • Dec 16, 2020

The text must appear in a single column on each page and be double-spaced throughout the document. Do not arrange chapter text in multiple columns. New paragraphs must be indicated by a consistent tab indentation throughout the entire document. The document text must be left-justified, not centered or right-justified.

The core chapters of a dissertation are the introduction, literature review, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion. In addition, there are also supplementary sections, such as the appendices, bibliography, glossary, and abstract.

Your dissertation document must include a contents page. The contents page should list all main numbered chapter headings (such as 1, 2 , 3). It is good practice to break down chapters into numbered sections, and these should also be listed on your contents page (such as 1.1, 1.2, 1.3).

Break down your dissertation into stages and plan backwards from your deadline to fit them all in. Start with your literature review. Think about your methodology. Identify primary sources. Identify secondary sources, if appropriate. Write as you go along. Organise and analyse your material. Write up.

Structure. A three-article dissertation will consist of an introduction, a methodology chapter, three published/publishable articles, and a conclusion chapter.

Use a standard 12-point font size. You may use larger size type for the title of the Thesis/Dissertation and for chapter headings as long as it is not larger than 16- point. Boldface type may be used for headings.

A dissertation is a long-form piece of academic writing based on original research conducted by you. It is usually submitted as the final step in order to finish a PhD program. Your dissertation is probably the longest piece of writing you've ever completed.
