An uncontested divorce occurs when: (a) there are no disagreements between you and your spouse over any financial or divorce-related issues (i.e., child custody and support, division of marital property or spousal support); and (b) your spouse either agrees to the divorce, or fails to appear in the divorce action.

The basic cost of the divorce includes the $110 fee for filing the Divorce Petition and the Clearance Certificate, and the $7 fee for the Certificate of Divorce. If you are receiving assistance under the Family Income Security Act or from domestic legal aid, there is no filing fee for a divorce application.

Depending on the county where you filed your papers, the County Clerk's Office or the Supreme Court Office will contact you when the Judgment is signed and will tell you how to get it.
