Property Tax Rebate For Persons 65 or Older This is a rebate that New Mexico offers for property tax billed or rent paid during the tax year on your principal place of residence in New Mexico. The credit cannot exceed $250 or $125 for married filers filing separately.

The personal income tax is filed using Form PIT-1, Personal Income Tax Return. If you are a New Mexico resident, you must file if you meet any of the following conditions: You file a federal return; You want to claim a refund of any New Mexico state income tax withheld from your pay, or.

New Mexico retirement taxes Taxpayers age 65 and older can deduct up to $8,000 from their taxable income, and income for residents 100 years and older is completely tax-exempt in New Mexico.

Nonresidents must file if: You are required to file a federal return. You have income from any New Mexico source whatsoever.

Head of Household Exemption Widow or Widower; Head of Household furnishing more than one half the cost of support of any related person; or. A single person; and. Must be the primary property owner residing in the State of New Mexico.

However, if you are age 65 or older and live in Los Alamos, Santa FE or Doña Ana County, you may be eligible for the “Property Tax Rebate for Persons 65 or Older” AND the low income property tax rebate.
