Some courses require that students have completed or are completing other courses prior to enrolling. This override will overrule any of those required courses for students prior to enrollment even if the student subsequently fails one of those prerequisite courses for which he/she is currently enrolled.

Grade overrides are grades entered using Quick grading or through the Single View of the gradebook. Overridden grades are typically reserved for entering zeros for any unsubmitted work throughout the semester, or to enter grades for observational grade items that are only accessible through the gradebook.

Registration for classes is done using the STAR for Students system by tapping on the tab “STAR GPS Registration”. Students may also register in the period just prior to the start of fall classes, or in the case of programs that begin in the spring or summer, prior to the beginning of the semester.

Overrides are given to students in order to register for classes that have restrictions or permissions.

When you override a score, the number you enter as the override score is the final and total score unless you change it again. All penalty, bonus, and assignment points you might have assigned are ignored when you override a score.

Please contact the Office of the Registrar if you wish to order your transcript directly from UH Hilo. We will send you our Transcript Request PDF Form. Once received, please fill out, print, and mail or fax the form along with your payment as instructed on the form. Either mail or fax both the request and payment.

Permission to enroll, also called an override, is special permission given to a student to join a class that requires instructor or departmental approval to enroll, has reached its maximum capacity, or for which a requisite has not been met.
