Get Network Id Form

Network ID: The network ID is a portion of an IP address that is used to designate a specific network or host. This section of the IP address is typically found towards the beginning of an IP address. Host ID: The host ID is another portion of an IP address used to identify a specific IP/TCP network.

Go to the Start menu, then in the search box type “cmd” and hit Enter. In the cmd window, type “ipconfig /all”. Find the line that reads “Physical Address”. This is your Machine ID.

In simple words, the Number of hosts in any network can be calculated with the formula = 2x– 2, where x is the number of host ID bits in the IP address.

To calculate the Network ID of a subnet, take an IP address within the subnet and run the AND operator (on a calculator) on the subnet mask. Using a calculator to find the Network ID is the easy way as you do not have to convert it into binary form. Once the Network ID is found, calculating the Broadcast ID is easy.

Class A addresses: The first 8 bits of the IP address are used for the network ID. The final 24 bits are used for the host ID. Class B addresses: The first 16 bits of the IP address are used for the network ID. The final 16 bits are for the host ID.

Step1: Write the given IP address in binary format. Step 2: Write the subnet mask in binary form. Step: Perform the logical ANDing operation between the corresponding octets of the IP address and the subnet mask. Step 4: Convert the result back to the decimal format and this will be the network address.

A host ID can be found simply by ANDing the IP address in binary form with its respective default subnet mask (in binary form). The other fragment of an IP address is the network ID, which identifies the network to which the host belongs. For Example, In the above Image, the IP address of host C is 198.162.
