A cancellation occurs when a student disenrolls all course sections for a term prior to classes beginning. To drop is to disenroll from one or more courses while remaining enrolled in at least one course.

Unlike dropping from a course, the withdraw will be listed on the transcript as a “W.” It will still appear on a course schedule but instead of showing up as “registered” it will reflect “withdraw.” If a student decides to withdraw from a course, please contact Student Financial Services for further clarification about ...

A withdrawal from a class (W) is GPA-neutral: instead of a grade, you receive a W notation on your transcript which does not affect your GPA; you also don't earn credits for the course.

Dropping a class means officially withdrawing from a course after initially enrolling but before the end of the semester. Many institutions implement a "drop deadline," a predetermined date before which students can withdraw without any academic or financial repercussions.

Sometimes life gets in the way and even though we hope it doesn't affect our academic lives, it does. In this case, dropping a class and receiving a withdrawal on your transcript looks better than a bad grade or a potential failure.

You either drop out, or you withdrawal. Dropping out usually means you are going to get a failing grade and you don't care about it. But primarily, dropping out refers to leaving college life altogether. So if you intend to say that you dropped out of a class, you should use withdrawal.

If you withdraw from a course after the census date, but on or before the last day to withdraw from courses without a failing grade, a Withdrawn Without Academic Penalty (WAP) grade will be applied to this course. If you withdraw from courses after the census date any course fees already charged will remain.

WITHDRAWING A COURSE means: • That you are removing a course from your class list after the Add/Drop period has ended. • an official notification to the college that you will no longer be attending the course. • The course will remain on the transcript and a “W” will appear in place of a grade.
