Mar 27, 2024 U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) published its final rule and is moving forward with significant fee increases for various immigration applications. This change represents the first major fee adjustment since 2016 and addresses the agency's operational and financial challenges.

As of April 1, 2024: Online Filing of Form I-765 Application for Employment Authorization (F-1 OPT, STEM OPT Extension) will increase from $410 to $470; Paper Filing of Form I-765 Application for Employment Authorization (J-2 work permission) will increase from $410 to $520.

Family-based and employment-based adjustment applicants. Beginning April 1, 2024, adjustment applicants will have to pay separate application fees to request work permission (I-765) and travel permission (I-131), although the I-765 fee will be half price for those applying based on a pending adjustment.

ALERT: As of April 1, 2024, USCIS service centers are no longer accepting Form I-129 petitions requesting H-1B or H-1B1 (HSC) classification. We will reject H-1B or H-1B1 (HSC) petitions received at a USCIS service center on or after April 1, 2024. There will be no grace period provided.
