A conversion course is a programme of study that trains a graduate in a new subject and (usually) prepares them for a specific profession. These are often (but not always) Masters-level courses. However, many are shorter than a full Masters, with a greater focus on practical training in place of a dissertation.

An LLM or Legum Magister is recognised around the world for being a historic and well-established legal qualification. There's no doubt about it – law conversion courses are intense. The SRA itself has noted this. Students are usually given three attempts to pass each subject. Upon failing an assessment, you can only be awarded a maximum of 40% for any re-sit that you pass.

Change into Law from another subject A formal way to pursue another subject interest is to change degrees into Law after studying one or two years of another subject at Cambridge. You will need permission from your college to change to another subject.

What is the difference between the MA in Law and the LLM programmes? The MA is for either non-law graduates or non-UK lawyers wanting to get a Master's level qualification in law; the LLM is aimed at law graduates who are keen to specialise and enhance their CV.

Eligibility for Master of Law (LLM) An LLB or Bachelor of Laws degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks is required. The pupil's age must be at least 17 years is required to pursue an LLM. Students who desire to study LLM courses must pass the admission exam necessary for the programme.

Becoming a dual-qualified lawyer-CA/CS gives you a more well-rounded understanding of how these abstract concepts work. Therefore it makes sense for a CA and/or a CS to do an LLM program in a specialization relevant to their field without having to do a bachelor of law (LL. B.).
