Meals served at CACFP-participating sites are often more nutritious and better aligned with recommended child feeding practices compared to non-CACFP participating sites [7,8,9,10]. CACFP participation has been shown to improve child diet quality, health outcomes, and food insecurity [11,12].

The CACFP guides you on how to provide healthy meals using five food components which make up the meal service requirements: grains, fruits, vegetables, meats/meat alternates and milk. Learn when these are required and how they fit into the CACFP meal pattern.

The records that sponsors must retain include: Annual training attendance of each staff member involved in the CACFP DCH operation. Copies of all applications and supporting documents submitted to the CDSS. Copies of all menus.
