But there are several different activities that can cause radial tunnel syndrome, including: Repeating certain motions (often at work) over and over again. Typing or using a screwdriver are good examples of these types of motions. Constantly putting your arm through push-and-pull activities.

As in tennis elbow, pain from radial tunnel syndrome often starts near the lateral epicondyle. (The lateral epicondyle is a bony point on the outside of your elbow joint.) The pain gets worse when you bend your wrist backward, turn your palm upward, or hold something with a stiff wrist or straightened elbow.

Radial tunnel syndrome manifests as dorsal and radial proximal forearm aching pain. Discomfort is exacerbated with movements requiring prono-supination of the forearm or resisted elbow flexion (lifting heavyweight).

While typing and other repetitive office tasks may not be the causes of carpal tunnel or tendonitis, they can aggravate the problem and cause more pain. So it's still a good idea to take breaks and practice proper body position to avoid injury.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is becoming more frequently recognized and may be occurring more often. It may result from repetitive motion or the use of devices like computer keyboards. It affects the median nerve, the nerve that supplies feeling and movement to the thumb and thumb-side of the hand.

Pain, numbness, decreased sensation, tingling, or burning sensation in the areas controlled by the nerve.

Straighten your arm with your palm facing down and bend your wrist so that your fingers point down. Gently pull your hand toward your body until you feel a stretch on the outside of your forearm. Hold the stretch for 15 seconds. Repeat 5 times, then perform this stretch on the other arm.

Conservative management for radial nerve entrapment includes oral anti-inflammatory medications, activity modification, and splinting.
