Pictures of registered sex offenders must be included in the registry as well. There are no other restrictions that come with registration on the list. A judge may prohibit offenders from being around children, for instance, if they were convicted of a crime involving minors.
The statutory penalties for willfully failing to register as a sex offender include: First Offense – Up to 4 years in prison and a possible $2,000 fine. Second Offense – Up to 7 years in prison and a possible $7,000 fine. Third Offense – Up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
How long must offenders remain registered as sex offenders? - Tier 1 offenders must register for 15 years. - Tier 2 offenders must register for 25 years. - Tier 3 offenders must register for life.
Public Act 295 of 1994 created the Sex Offenders Registration Act to require a person convicted of a “listed offense” to register information about his or her identity, address, and conviction.
In order to ask the court to discontinue your requirement to register with a sex offender registration authority, you must file a petition with the court in which you were convicted or adjudicated. You can either hire an attorney or you can represent yourself.
A petition for early removal of the requirements of the Michigan Sex Offender Registry for Tier I, Tier II, or Tier III registrants can be granted if: The case was adjudicated as a juvenile offense before the offender's 14 th birthday, or.
