The EITC is a federal, state, and New York City tax credit for qualifying families, noncustodial parents, and singles who work full time or part time or are self-employed. On average, most eligible New Yorkers receive $2,400 in combined EITC benefits. The combined credit can be worth up to $8,991.

Who is eligible? You are entitled to claim this nonrefundable credit for the tax year if: you were a full-year or part-year resident of New York State, or a New York State-resident estate or trust, or a part-year resident trust; and.

The Additional Child Tax Credit is the refundable portion of the Child Tax Credit. It is claimed by families who owe the IRS less than their qualified Child Tax Credit amount. For 2023, the Additional Child Tax Credit will refund eligible taxpayers up to $1,600. For 2024, it's $1,700.
