Maintenance of Matriculation. CUNY regulations require students to be registered in the semester/session in which the degree is awarded. If all coursework was completed before the graduation semester and no courses are being taken, students must register for maintenance of matriculation.

Graduate and Professional students (excluding Law) who are not enrolled in any classes, but are maintaining matriculation for the term are required to pay a $528.00 Maintaining Matriculation Fee per term. A non-refundable registration and services fee of $528.00 is applicable per term.

Required Grade-Point Average, Probation, and Dismissal All programs must be completed with a minimum GPA of at least B (3.0).

Passing grades assigned by faculty are A+ through D. (There is no grade of D–.) Grades of A+ show on the student's record but are counted as an A in the grade point average (GPA).

Students who have completed the 30 credits for the degree, but need an additional semester to complete the thesis, should register for “Maintenance of Matriculation”. If you find that a course offered by another department is closed or has restrictions, you can get in touch with the instructor for permission to enroll.

To obtain a bachelor's degree from Queens College, you must complete 120 course credits, typically about 40 courses. Within those 120 credits you must complete the general education requirements and the requirements for at least one major course of study (“a major”).

Maintenance of Matriculation Request Intake: Master's students must maintain matriculation status to complete degree requirements. This includes resolving INC grades, taking comprehensive examinations, and filing a thesis as final requirements in preparation for graduation.
