Hurricane Loss Mitigation Program Grant Funded activities include retrofits, inspections, and construction or modification of building components designed to increase a structure's ability to withstand hurricane-force winds and flooding.

The Legislature has authorized DFS to provide a matching grant to eligible homeowners up to $10,000 for the actual cost of qualifying home hurricane mitigation projects. The program will provide $2 in grant funds for every $1 the homeowner provides.

The Florida Disaster Fund distributes funds to service organizations that will serve individuals within their communities with disaster response and recovery. You may also donate via cell phone by texting DISASTER to 20222 to donate $10 or DISASTER25 to 20222 to donate $25.

Senate Bill 4A; 2022-272 Laws of Florida Provides reimbursements grants up to $150,000 with a 50/50 homeowner match requirement. To be eligible for reimbursement, activities must have been made in preparation for or to remedy coastal beach erosion or damage sustained from Hurricane Ian or Hurricane Nicole.

The Legislature has authorized DFS to provide a matching grant to eligible homeowners up to $10,000 for the actual cost of qualifying home hurricane mitigation projects. The program will provide $2 in grant funds for every $1 the homeowner provides. Low income grants have been increased from $5,000 to $10,000.

To be eligible for assistance from this grant program, prospective applicants must fill out aRequest for Public Assistance (RPA) through the State of Florida's Public Assistance Web Portal, .FloridaPA.org.

Reduce the State of Florida's vulnerability to all hazards through effective administration of all mitigation grant programs and a coordinated approach to mitigation planning and floodplain management through federal, state, regional, and local initiatives.

You must have applied, been approved, and have received a free home hurricane inspection through the Program. You must provide proof of homestead exemption. If you need assistance obtaining a copy of your homestead exemption information, please confer with your local Property Appraiser or Tax Collectors Office.
