At the UCLA BrainSPORT program, we are excited to offer a new opportunity for occupational therapy students to complete their doctoral residency experience with our team. The doctoral residency program focuses mainly on clinical patient care while providing additional opportunities for research and program development.

Occupational therapists help people, such as those with disabilities, live independently. Occupational therapists evaluate and treat people who have injuries, illnesses, or disabilities. They help clients meet goals to develop, recover, improve, and maintain skills needed for daily living and working.

The USC gift was made in honor of the Chan family's matriarch, Mrs. T.H. Chan, who was trained as a nurse in Northern China during the mid-20th century. The gift established an endowment in perpetuity and named the division the USC Mrs. T.H. Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy.

The Entry-Level OTD degree program has been granted Candidacy Status by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education® (ACOTE®) and we are accepting applicants for the next application cycle.

Routines provide opportunity to teach developmentally-appropriate daily living skills. Routines support building relationships and social skills. By incorporating routines into every part of the day you can bring a sense of order and predictability to the child's world.

The basic elements of the LR are: 1) identification and application of realistic and long-term activity changes; 2) development of plans to overcome obstacles (e.g. pain, transportation); and 3) participation in specific activities involving the practice, and repetition of changes in daily routine.

Lifestyle Redesign is an innovative occupational therapy intervention framework developed at USC Chan that has been shown to improve health and wellness through building healthier lifestyles.
