Follow the steps to successfully complete your loan application.
- Click the ‘Get Form’ button to access the loan application form and open it in your preferred online editor.
- Carefully fill out each section of the 'Application for University Bar Study Loan.' Ensure that every item is completed accurately. If you are not employed upon graduation, indicate 'currently not employed' in the employment section, and later provide updates as necessary.
- Have your co-signer complete the 'Co-signer Employment Verification' form. This form should be filled out by the co-signer’s employer and does not require notarization.
- Submit all completed documents in person to the Berkeley Law Financial Aid Office located at 2850 Telegraph Avenue, Suite 500, before the deadline of May 11, 2012. Note that applications sent via mail will not be processed.
- Wait for email notification from the Billing and Payment Services Office when your promissory note is ready for pickup. Remember to bring your student identification.
- Send the promissory note to your co-signer. They must sign the note in the presence of a notary public. The notary may attach the verification on a separate page, as long as it is stapled to the promissory note.
- Return the signed promissory note to the Billing and Payment Services Office. You must sign the document in front of their staff. Ensure this is completed no later than May 31, 2012.
- The Billing and Payment Services Office will process the promissory note and disburse the funds. If you have enrolled in electronic funds transfer, the funds will be directly deposited to your account. Otherwise, a check will be issued for pickup, taking approximately three to five business days for processing.
