Eight Step Recovery It uses the Buddhist Teachings to overcome addiction. This Eight Step program is a set of mindfulness teachings outlining a suggested course of action for recovery from addiction, stinking thinking, negative mental states, and compulsive and obsessive behaviours.

The Four Truths of Refuge Recovery are that addiction creates suffering, the cause of addiction is repetitive craving, recovery is possible, and the path to recovery is available.

The Practice (Short Version) We commit to the intention of abstinence from addictive substances. For process addictions, we identify and commit to wise boundaries around our harmful behaviors.

The parasol or umbrella is traditionally a symbol of royalty and protection from the elements. In Buddhism, the Parasol symbolizes the protection the Dharma gives one from the distress and confusion caused by our samsaric lives and the burning heat of our emotions.
