The Code of Federal Regulations Title 33 contains the codified United States Federal laws and regulations that are in effect as of the date of the publication pertaining to navigation, flood control, and water resources for the navigable waters in and around the United States, including the Everglades.

(a) A vessel response plan must be reviewed annually by the owner or operator. (1) This review must occur within 1 month of the anniversary date of Coast Guard approval of the plan. (2) The owner or operator shall submit any plan amendments to the Coast Guard for information or approval.

The development of a response plan prepares the vessel owner or operator and the vessel's crew to respond to an oil spill. The specific criteria for response resources and their arrival times are not performance standards.
