- In Part II, enter the parent’s taxable income on line 6 and enter any other net unearned income from other children on line 7.
- Add lines 5 through 7 and write the total on line 8.
- Calculate the tax applicable to line 8 based on the parent’s tax filing status and enter it on line 9.
- Enter the parent’s tax amount from Form 540, line 31 on line 10, ensuring not to include any tax from Form FTB 3803.
- Subtract line 10 from line 9 and enter the result on line 11. If line 7 is blank, skip lines 12a and 12b.
- Add line 5 and line 7 and place the total on line 12a. Divide line 5 by line 12a, enter the result as a decimal rounded to four places on line 12b.
