Your new NJIT Form I-20 will be issued as soon as your current school transfers your SEVIS record to us and your financial documentation has been received. If you are currently holding another visa type and wish to apply for a change to F-1, please contact the Office of Admissions at admissions@njit.edu for assistance.

New Jersey Institute of Technology has an acceptance rate of 66%. Half the applicants admitted to NJIT who submitted test scores have an SAT score between 1190 and 1450 or an ACT score of 27 and 33. However, one quarter of admitted applicants achieved scores above these ranges and one quarter scored below these ranges.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) All international applicants must show a TOEFL score of at least 550 (paper-based); 213 (computer-based); 79 (internet-based).

If you did not receive a travel signature on your I-20 or DS-2019 before traveling, please request Form I-515A at the immigration port of entry. It is most likely the Customs and Border Protection officer at the U.S. Port of Entry will issue you an I-515 form.

TOEFL/IELTS/DUOLINGO The minimum score required is 79 for the internet-based TOEFL exam, 213 for the computer-based TOEFL exam, 550 for the paper TOEFL exam, 6.0 for the IELTS exam, 100 for the Duolingo exam (undergraduate applicants) or 120 for the Duolingo exam (graduate applicants).

We accept the TOEFL IBT (minimum 79), IELTS (minimum 6.5) and Duolingo (minimum 120) exams.

Estimated Travel Costs and Information: A complete request form should include all pertinent details: Plane Tickets: Airline, one-way or round-trip information, and ticket costs. Ground Transporation: This can be estimated costs for the use of taxi or rideshare services, such as Uber or Lyft.
