A Certificate of Occupancy (CofO) is a document issued by the Building Division which certifies that a commercial space or newly constructed residential building has been inspected for compliance with the California Building Standards Code and local ordinances which govern construction and occupancy.

A Certificate of Occupancy is issued at the time a building or tenant space is completed, the final inspections have been approved, and all final fees have been paid. The Certificate of Occupancy is the legal document issued by the local Building Official to indicate that a building is safe to occupy.

Form PUR-101 pertains to thermal requirements as described by the BEES and allows for compliance by either prescriptive (checklist) methods or performance (overall) methods.

Residential Building​ Permits Outside the Building Safety Service Area (BSSA) - Land use permits are required for new buildings, additions, a change in use/occupancy of the structure.
