S of premises I moved out of your (house/apartment) located at the above address on , 20 . I gave you a written forwarding address as required by the law; I have waited days since moving and I still have not received my security deposit back as of this date. According to the law, a landlord is required to return a security deposit within days after a tenant has moved out. The law further states that if the security deposit is not returned within days, the tenant.

Tenants. Tenant rights state that they may exercise their right to habitable housing whenever they consider it appropriate; this includes asking for utilities in good condition, getting repairs in a reasonable amount of time, and collecting their security deposit once they leave the premises.

When do I get my deposit back? The landlord has thirty days, unless your lease allows more time (not more than 60 days) to return the deposit or give you an exact and specific list of deductions. You must receive your deposit or an itemized list within that time.

In general, landlords have exactly one month after a tenant moves out to return their security deposit. A landlord may also have up to 60 days to do so if the lease agreement specifies it. But, the maximum amount to return a tenant's security deposit is capped at 60 days.

If the tenant moved out and the security deposit or itemized list of deductions is not mailed to them within 30 days of moving out, they can sue. Section 92.109 allows the tenant to sue the landlord to recover “three times the portion of the deposit wrongfully withheld” plus other fees.
