Content_Area1. ​​​You may use the electronic certificate (S-211E) to claim an exemption from Wisconsin state, county, baseball stadium, local exposition, and premier resort sales or use taxes.

Wisconsin became a full member of the SST on October 1, 2009.

To apply for exempt status, the State of Wisconsin requires that you complete Wisconsin Department of Revenue Form S-211 (Wisconsin Sales and Use Tax Exemption Certificate). The effective date of the sales tax exemption is the date the form is signed. We cannot determine your taxable status.

(a) Continuous or blanket exemption certificates do not expire and need not be renewed at any prescribed interval. However, they should be renewed at reasonable intervals in case of a business change, registration number change, or discontinuance of the specific business claiming the exemption.

Any business that only makes sales that are not subject to sales or use tax under ch. 77, Wis. Stats., may complete ​ Form A-006,​ Affidavit of Exempt Sales Form. This is certification that all sales the business makes in Wisconsin are exempt from the Wisconsin sales and use tax.

A seller's permit is required for every individual, partnership, corporation, or other organization with a Wisconsin sales location making retail sales, including leases, licenses, or rentals, of taxable products in Wisconsin, unless all sales are exempt from sales or use tax.

A fully completed certificate must include (1) the complete name and address of the purchaser, (2) general description of the purchaser's business (type of business), (3) reason for exemption, and (4) signature of purchaser unless the certificate is received electronically.

If you believe that your farm meets the exemption requirements and is eligible for this tax exemption, it's important that you complete the Wisconsin Sales and Use Tax Exemption certificate.
