Initial Year TEXAS Grant Criteria To be eligible for an initial award, you must: Be classified as a Texas resident. Demonstrate financial need. Have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) less than or equal to $6,234.

Award Range The maximum award for the 2023-24 academic year is $3,873. Undergraduate students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of less than or equal to 3,328 may receive up to $5,810.

For the 2023-24 academic year: An eligible student may receive up to $5,379 per semester. There are four different pathways by which a student can receive an initial award, as well as four different high school graduation requirements.

Be enrolled in an eligible institution in Texas in a degree plan leading to a first associate, baccalaureate, master's, professional, or doctoral degree (excluding degree plans that are intended to lead to religious ministry) Be enrolled at least 3/4 time.
