If a tree is to be removed and there is no building or grading permit required, then a tree permit may be required if the tree is within the front, side, or rear setback adjacent to a public right-of-way, or is within 100 feet of the water (mean high tide).

You may not enter your neighbor's property to trim or remove a tree or other plant without first getting your neighbor's consent. If you wish to trim or cut down a tree that is close to a public road, you may need to apply to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources for a permit.

The Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) removes and performs elevation trimming of trees that are in the County rights-of-way. The County trees must be maintained to control their growth and to assure that they don't present a safety hazard to motorists or pedestrians by obstructing sight distances.

Sheds over 150 sq. ft. require a permanent foundation and a permit. If electrical service is included with the project, an Electrical Permit is required.
