Members eligible for Retirement With Pay (also known as Non-Regular Retirement) must submit their request through PERS-912. This includes the Application for Retired Pay Benefits (DD Form 108) and Data for Payment of Retired Personnel (DD Form 2656).

The Department of Defense (DD) Form 2542, “Certificate of Appreciation for Service in the Armed Forces of the United States,” extends the President's and the Nation's appreciation to Service members retiring from a Military Service.

Unlike most retirement plans, the military offers a pension with benefits, that start the day you retire, no matter how old you are. That means you could start collecting a regular retirement pension as early as 37 years old. What's more, that pension check can grow with a cost of living adjustment each year.

Each Soldier requesting retirement will, with the help of their personnel officer/S-1, complete DA Form 2339, in ance with AR 635-200, Chapter 12, paragraph 12- 13. When a waiver to a service obligation is requested, a justification will be included as an enclosure.

Your application for retired pay should be completed and sent to the Human Resources Command (HRC), Fort Knox not earlier than 9 months and not later than 90 days from the date that retired pay is to start (usually your 60th birthday).

DFAS R&A Pay is primarily a payroll office. We establish and maintain military retired pay, annuity accounts, and issue monthly payments to both military retirees and their eligible survivors, including the following: Regular and Reserve Retirement payments.
