Qualifying for a Bursary You have a strong academic history (some bursaries require good grades in certain subjects – e.g. Maths/Science/Languages) You have currently been studying or intend to study within a specific field of study which is suitable for the bursary program.

Satawu stands for SA Transport and Allied Workers Union. It is an affiliate of Cosatu organising in the transport, cleaning and security sectors. It currently has a membership of 85,000, the bulk of whom are in the transport sector.

Member benefits – providing R6million in funeral and retirement benefits to members and dependents, in 3800 pay-outs a year. Promoting higher education – The organization is also sponsoring ±700 students at universities, institutes of technology and colleges, and contributing about R5 million in bursaries every year.

These bursaries support talented candidates with a comprehensive study program. Included in these bursaries are tuition fees, registration fees, books required, monthly allowance plus accommodation. The fields of study for these bursaries may vary yearly, it will depend on the need of MTN's skills base.
