If the summons is to be served by mail by the court clerk, the court clerk shall enclose the summons and a copy of the petition or order of the court to be served in an envelope, prepared by the plaintiff, addressed to the defendant, or to the resident service agent if one has been appointed.

Service may be made in person, by certified mail, with return receipt, by leaving a copy of the subpoena at the principal place of business of the party, with the party, or an employee who customarily serves as the secretary or receptionist of the party.
