  8. Select the method of transportation in section 9 by indicating whether it is air, vessel, or another mode.
  9. Enter the exporting carrier's name in section 10 and provide the port of unloading in section 12, noting that this applies to vessel and air shipments.
  10. Complete sections 6 and 11 with the point of origin or Foreign Trade Zone number and the port of export, respectively.

The two ways to lodge the declaration include: Manually: The document is prepared manually and submitted at one of the counters of the Customers.

In the USA an export declaration must be filed when any single commodity being shipped is over 2500 USD. Therefore if you have multiple commodities less than 2500 you do not need to file an export declaration. HOWEVER, if any of the items require an export license or permit you will need to file the export declaration.

Shipper's Export Declaration (SED) Document required by the U.S. Department of Commerce for exports of certain controlled items, and/or shipments to certain countries, and/or shipments anywhere that exceed certain dollar amounts. This document is used to monitor shipments of controlled goods.

An export declaration for Customs is an official document that lists and gives details of goods that are being exported. This document is also referred to as EX-A customs document.
