E15 Ethanol is a low-concentration biofuel blend consisting of 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent gasoline. Unlike E10, E15 is not classified as 'substantially similar' to gasoline. However, since 2011 the EPA has approved the use of E15 for vehicles with model years 2001 and later.

Two states have mandated the sale of ethanol blended fuels and biodiesel: New South Wales introduced a biofuels mandate in October 2007. See Biofuels Act 2007 (NSW) and Biofuels requirements in NSW. Queensland introduced biofuels mandates in January 2017 for the sale of bio-based petrol and bio-based diesel.

E10 is a biofuel made up of 90% regular unleaded and 10% ethanol – hence the E10 name. Standard unleaded fuel contains up to 5% ethanol and can be used in any petrol-engined car without problems or the need for modification.

An Act to provide for a minimum ethanol and biodiesel content requirement in respect of petrol and diesel fuel sales in the State and to require information to be provided in respect of such sales.
