Pre-K (Ages Birth-5)

Universal pre-K is the expansion of preschool opportunities to children ages 3-5 years-old from all families, not only those eligible for free or reduced tuition in current Head Start and Illinois State Prekindergarten Programs.

The average private preschool tuition in Illinois is $7,003 per year (2023). The private preschool with the lowest tuition is Creative Montessori Learning Center, with a tuition of $1,150.

Pre-K (Ages Birth-5)

The Illinois School Code, 105 ILCS 5/27-6, requires that students engage in a course of physical education for a minimum of 3 days per 5-day week in both elementary school and high school with limited exceptions enumerated for individual student waivers, exemptions, modifications or excused absences.

For children age 3 and age 4, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) provides funding for the Preschool for All (PFA) program. The long-term goal of the Preschool for All program is to provide educational services to all 3- and 4-year-old children whose families choose to participate.
